Oh Geez

I could not have imagined what kind of a child Brad and I would create.
Amazing isn't it?
How God takes a little bit of you and a little bit of the one you love to form a cohesive being?
So, now as a parent, I am really thinking these things through.
Because, when we first found out we were expecting, I was still under the influence of the honeymoon.
And now, tonight, the things that could not have been foreseen are shining through!
And I have no power.  Only the power to throw up my hands in surrender and just laugh.

So, back story....

I, as a wonderful child that never did anything wrong in her poor little life, was perfect.

Ok, no really.....true story....

I was and I quote from Mimi, "A bull in a china closet."

And Brad......

And, I have seen home videos of this....
A rough and tough little boy.

So, you might ask yourself where this is all going.

Tonight, after having dinner and bath time, Emma was sitting in the recliner.
She proceeds to start rocking the recliner as hard as she could by leaning up and throwing herself
back as hard as she could against the back of the chair.
While screaming,
"Oh, Woah, Oh Woah, Oh Woah!"
Which Brad and I laughed of course.
Then, later, I was sitting on the couch and the munchkin crawled up and sat next to me.
She waited a few minutes and then sprung into action.
This means she stood up, turned, grabbed my pony tail, and began shaking my head by my hair.
And of course, Brad is rolling at this and I am getting tickled as well.
So, after we got her to let go of my hair.
Brad said this....
"This is our little girl.  Imagine what it will be like when we have a boy..."

Oh Geez.

Meet Andria, Zach, and Jacob!

Several weeks ago, Brad and I visited a new church in C-Stat.
We hit the Sunday School and met the most amazing people.
Some of those people were the Castners!
They are expecting their second child in October.
And today, I had the honor of capturing some adorable belly moments for them!
Here are a few of my favs!

Zach was so cute today!  I can tell he is going to be such a wonderful big brother!

This picture is my favorite.  Just look at those tippy-toes!

Andria is so beautiful!  And such a wonderful mother!
Zach was such a gentleman the whole time!
And Emma became so attached!

I cannot wait to meet Mr. Jacob!  How lucky he is to become apart of this loving family!

Until Next Time,

19 months of Something Wonderful

Last week, Emma turned 19 months.
She is growing up waaaaay too fast!

I love to watch her play during the day, her expressions are so cute!
I think she is going to be a thinker.
Everytime she sees something new, she will sit there and play with it until she figures it out.
Just look at this concentration face!

And she is hardly ever quiet nowadays!
But, we love it!

Even JoJo joined in her tea party!

And she is so loving!
She is going to be such a great big sister someday!

As long as they don't mind a crown, bow, and the possibility of being hugged to death.
Which might be bad if she has a brother.
Although, a person (who will remain nameless), had his hair curled numerous times
and only has one scar.
But that is lightyears away.
So, until next time....

Long Time Coming

Goodness, I am so behind!
Brad and I got to travel to the panhandle at the end of July to spend time with family and friends.
It was so great to see everyone and to visit!
But, I have just put off and put off the pics from the visits!
So here they are!
We really enjoyed seeing everyone while we were home!
Until Next Time,

The Picture I Forgot About...

So, I was going through my archive of photos yesterday.
And I came across this picture of Brad and Emma.

It was taken when Brad's twin sister, Tiffany, and her husband, Chris graduated
from OU Graduate School and OU Law.

Emma was still in the stages of eating every two hours.
I remember this night,
because this was when she was starting to get what we still think were allergies.
I was fixing her bottle late at night and had asked Brad
if he would hold her while I was doing so.

When I finished,
I turned around to find this.

I guess she was just needing her Daddy.
What is kind of funny though,
is my mom has a picture of my Dad and me
almost just like this.

Until Next Time,
TOODLES!

Tirzah...

Hello, friends!  Today's blog is going to be a little bit different than usual.
Normally, you are reading about a family pasttime, or Emma, or new things going on in our crazy lives.
Today, I am letting just me come through this posting.

On Monday, a very sweet lady made a comment about a book on facebook.
So I picked it up to read again.

The name of the book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
It is based on the book of Hosea.
It is more of a modern look into the love pursuit of  God, Hosea and Gomer.
I first read this book when I was 19 or 20, I think.
I desperately needed this book around this time.
I had fallen short and was in a downward spiral that was leading no where good.
I think that at the time I had the selfworth of a squashed ant.
But then, I began reading this book.
I couldn't put it down and it took me a total of 15 hours to read it from cover to cover.
The woman in the story is called several different names throughout the entire story.
Angel, Mara, Sara, and Tirzah is all of them; I think.
For most of the book, I called her Tirzah.

What intrigued me the most was the constant pursuit of Tirzah by both Micheal and God.
Back then, I wanted so bad to be pursued and loved that way.
I had had so many failed relationships both romantic and friendships.
So many things that were failures.
That made me feel like the trash on someone's shoe.
At that point, I felt that forgiveness and love was something that was far out of reach.
But this book helped me see that was all a lie.
And I was really deserving of so much more.

And Tirzah has helped me out not once, but twice.

I was so afraid to marry Brad almost 2 and a half years ago.
I was afraid that because of my past, God would never allow us to be blessed with a family.
And I knew Brad wanted to have a family someday.
And I was terrified I wouldn't be able to give it to him.
So, once again, I picked up Redeeming Love.

Once again, it had renewed and strengthened my faith.
My mentality was not were it should have been which needed to be on God and marrying my best friend.
We finally said our "I Do's".
And then we found out we were going to be parents.
And now, I have Emmaelynn to remind me of God's forgiveness and love.
Because of her, the human side of me was shown that God did love both Brad and I so much,
He blessed us with what we had wanted
Although, He didn't get our memo of our time frame.
Which was fine because at the time, it was what we needed.

I refuse to make this blog a spoiler, so, you should go out and buy, borrow, or do whatever you can
to get your hands on this book.
It is so very much worth the time.

And then, once you have finished that...
you should try
Falling in Love with Jesus by Kathy Troccoli.
It will make you feel like a little girl again.
And make you realize that since you were a little girl, you have always had your prince.
And if you find a husband here on Earth, it is just double the princes!

So there, the nakedness of me on the blog.
Welcome.
And go find the book.

Until Next Time,
TOODLES!!

18 Months and Counting...With a General Update

Wow!  These last 18 months have flown by so fast!
Emma is doing absolutely amazing!
She has had relatively no problem transitioning to no pacifier.
And she is learning a new word everyday!
I think she mostly just has a problem with going to bed, but hey, who doesn't at some point in their life?
Brad has been super busy with fire departments and class in his new job.
I believe they are gearing up for a fall/winter fire season.
Fires are already popping up here, there, and everywhere!  So, I think it will be a busy one.
And today the Britten family tried another church here in C-Stat.
This time we went Methodist.
And the child care/nursery facility was absolutely amazing!
Emma didn't even cry when we left her!  She found a sweet playmate and was off!
Which was a relief to Brad and I because of her last experiences with church nurseries.
And this church was really nice and the people were again very welcoming.
I can't wait to try it again!
Anywhoo, we went to take Emma's pics again for our scrapbook!
So here are her 18 month pics!

Our baby is growing up so fast!
But, I think we can wait a long while before we get #2 on the ground!
Emma is just way too much fun!

There is a new Cake Decorator in Town...

As many of you all know, my mother (JoJo: aka, The Cookie Queen) is a wonderful cookie and cake decorator and my aunt (Ousier: aka, The Cake Pop Queen) is awesome with cookies and cakes too.
I would like to now put my name in the hat.
Alison: aka The Jack of all Trades
It's a good thing for both Queens that I don't live in Childress anymore.
I deem that I could give them a run for their money.

Although, I loved doing this cake and I love helping do other ones;
I think that I will stick to doing photography and crafts.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Until next time,

It's Really Nifty....(to not finish that phrase)

You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The (woman)(man) I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

You Are My Sunshine

So this past weekend, my cousin, Maggie, got married in Hesston, KS.
I went up a few days early to hang out with her and help set up the reception.
As I was talking to my aunt the day before the wedding, she made a comment about having not seeing a sunflower at all in Kansas.
(Kansas being known as the sunflower state, you know)
And then, I was coming from the Wall Mall...
and here is what I saw.

Miles of beautiful sunflowers!
They were gorgeous!
And it was so peaceful to look at the fields.

All worries went away and a sense of calm came over me.
Magnificent.
That is the only word to describe this experience.

Keep Austin Weird!

So this weekend, when I asked that hubs of mine what he would like to do for his special day.
The response was, "Let's go to Austin."
So we did.
The Capitol, County Line BBQ, The History of the State of Texas Museum, and Toy Story 3 in IMAX:
Whew!  What a weekend!
Now, the camera could not capture everything.
And there is a whole other story to our Austin trip that requires another much needed blog.
Here are some pics I snapped on our tour of the capitol building.

And what is a trip without some family pictures?
Well, it would be a trip....it could get really boring...and Emma keeps everything....
Well, she is into everything so that keeps Brad and I on our toes.
(Which will be proven in the future blog about Austin)

Doesn't Emma and her Daddy look so cute together?!

And there is our funny little girl!
And finally, one of the few pics of the three of us together!

The Sprinkler

Wow!  So much has happened since my last post!
We have been in...
Lufkin, Childress, White Deer, Panhandle, and Amarillo...
But, at Ousia's house is where Emma found her new love
Ousia's sprinkler.

It was so much fun watching her and Icky playing in the water!

I believe I'm going to have a mermaid living at my house before the end of the week!

Can't you just hear the sceams coming through the photo?

2 Years In The Making

Tomorrow is my anniversary.
Two years of a roller coaster ride with my best friend.
So I decided to write a little something for him.

To: My Best Friend and Partner in Crime

I get butterflies every time,
You look at me, or talk to me.
And when you tease,
Big smiles across my face,
You have filled up an empty space,
Where it had been vacant for so long,
Two years ago,
 I gave you my heart.
And even though there are times when we have been apart.
Those are the times that my feelings for you grow the most.
My love for you knows no bounds,
Oh, what a wonderful man I have found!
No greater Dad could have been created for our child and future children.
No better man could have been chosen to be my husband.
Do you understand what I'm trying to say?
I'm so glad we found each other
I'm so glad we love one another.
There are only so many words to use to tell you how much you mean to me.
But, my words are few and easy.
Plain and Simple, Straightforward and Trouble-Free.
My words are nothing less than,
I Love You,
I Love You, Babe.
