Salon Day!

When we first moved down to the Brazos Valley.  Emma and I were in desperate need of some hair care!
We had been so fortunate in the previous months for MeMaMaw to trim the ends of Emma's hair.
But being down here, it looks like I was getting to take her for her first salon experience!
I was so nervous at first.
I could just imagine Emma moving in one direction and the stylist cutting more hair than I wanted.
But, Emma sat so still!
And, of course, I had to document!

I think she had fun!

And they did a pretty good job!
Until Next Time,

I Think I Have A Very Cute Monster!

These are the best months of being a mother.
Emma is learning so many new things and is becoming so smart!
She for the last 3 weeks has been very persistent about wanting to feed herself without any help from me.
This kind of made me sad.
Her independence is very apparent and I am having to get used to her not needing me as much.
But anyway, back to the very cute monster.
Tonight, I gave her a bowl of yogurt for supper and monitored through a camera to capture the moments.

She was very happy of what she was doing!

And then I put the camera down and decided to make Brad's plate for dinner.
I turned back around only to find this...

Now this is my very cute monster!

No Reservations......(well, maybe a few)

Today, Emma and I sent Brad off to a class in Abilene for a full week.
This is the first time since we have been married that we have been apart for a full week.
So, let me start out by saying, I am not afraid of being alone in a new town, new home, with a 14 month old, and knowing absolutely no one.
That is not what bothers me.  It is missing him.
Before I met Brad, I was on my own with no one to depend on except for my family.
I am EXTREMELY independent.
(maybe this is where Emma gets it from)
When I lived by myself it was no big deal.  And then I met Brad.
And we got married and then pregnant.
And never until after we were married for about 3 months did we begin to depend on one another.
(well, I will say I because I cannot speak for him...it was then I began to fully depend)
Not until today did I realize how much I am dependent upon Brad.
So, this week, I am reaching back to the person I was before I met my husband and bringing part of her back to get me through this week.
After writing this, I wonder, is this going to be like an on/off switch that will need to be operated every time Brad leaves for a deployment?
Hmmmm....I don't know.  Only time will tell.
But what I do know is; this week, I will make it.
Until next time,

TOODLES!

Houston, The Beach, and Everything in Between!

I love going to visit family!  This weekend Brad and I packed little Emmaelynn into the car and we went to HOUSTON!
Now, this is the first time Emma and I have ever been to this Texas city and Houston did not disappoint!
The main reason for our little trip was to visit Brad's Uncle Nicky and Aunt Karen.
We had so much fun visiting.  Karen treated us to a wonderful soup on our first night there and it was so delicious!
On Saturday, Brad and I decided to head on down to Galveston while both Nicky and Karen were at work.
Man!  It is such a different world down there!
Palm trees and water lined the bridges and roads.  But along the way we did see signs of the hurricane devastation.  Almost three years from when it hit and Galveston is still in much needed repair.
For lunch, we took Emma to the Rainforest Cafe.  Emma loved looking at all of the life-like animals!
After having an excellent meal we went to the Moody Garden Aquarium.  Oh, how Emma loved to look at the fish swimming around!
Here are just a few snippits from our time there!

This little guy was about the size of Emma's pinkie!  Thank goodness for zoom!

This is how I would imagine it would be like with a sea turtle swimming above you under the sea.
How peaceful!

Here are just a few more...

After we finished at the aquarium, it was so nice out that we decided to take Emma for her first experience with the beach and ocean!
She loved it!

Brad and I had a blast, Emma had a blast, and it was so nice to get out with just the three of us!
I guess you could say this is the first of many mini-vacas for our future!

Until next time,

Death of a Monkey

As a baby and young child, you had a favorite book.  That one you would want read each night before you went to bed, your favorite.
Emma's favorite book is one from when I was a little tike; Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb.
She got a copy of this little book from Ousia for Christmas this year and it is already getting worn out!
So for Easter, JoJo wanted to make a cake with the theme of that cake for Emma.
It was a very sweet cake.  And Ousia got to practice with gumpaste to form little monkies.
It was a very cute cake!

And the monkies were so cute!

And Emma really liked it!

And then it happened.
It was so quick no one saw it coming.
That poor monkey.
It didn't even stand a chace.

She grabbed and he died.

The only thing left on the cake was his poor legs.

And what was left of him after we got him from her hand.

R.I.P little monkey.

Until next time,

Easter Weekend

Well, we had the great opportunity to return home this last Easter weekend.  It was such a great time!
It was fast, busy, and not quite long enough.
We spent Friday night and most of the day Saturday in White Deer.
Saturday evening, we got to have dinner with all of the family and finished it with a small Easter Egg Hunt for the great-grandbabies!
After this was over, we drove to Childress in just enough time to hit the hay!
That afternoon, Emma got to go and hunt Easter eggs in Ouisa's backyard with Lucy!

Lucy tried to hunt.........

But she got bored.

All in all, it was an awesome weekend and although it was a speed trip that was a blast.
The drive...
not so much fun.
Hope Everyone had a Happy Easter!
